• Swelling and bruising -- Expected and resolves over weeks to months
• Numbness -- Reduced sensation below the belly button is common and usually resolves within 3-12 months, though some permanent numbness is possible
• Scarring -- All tummy tucks produce scars; individual healing varies
• Asymmetry -- Minor asymmetry is common in all surgery; significant asymmetry is rare

Uncommon (1-5% of patients):

• Seroma (fluid collection under the skin) -- The most common complication, occurring in approximately 5-10% of cases. Treated by aspiration (draining with a needle). The drainless technique reduces this risk.
• Wound-healing problems -- Small areas of wound separation (dehiscence) or delayed healing, particularly at the T-junction where incision lines meet. More common in smokers and patients with diabetes or high BMI.
• Infection -- Surgical site infection occurs in approximately 1-3% of cases. Treated with antibiotics; rarely requires surgical intervention.

• Haematoma (blood collection under the skin) -- May require a return to the operating theatre to evacuate
