Extracted grafts are stored in a chilled holding solution to preserve viability while the recipient channels are created. Sapphire FUE

Sapphire FUE is an advanced variant that uses blades tipped with sapphire crystal (aluminium oxide, the second-hardest natural mineral after diamond) instead of steel to create the recipient channels. The sapphire blade creates a V-shaped micro-incision rather than the U-shaped incision of a steel slit.

Why sapphire matters:

• Smaller incisions. Sapphire blades can create channels as small as 1.0mm, versus 1.2-1.5mm for steel. Smaller channels mean less tissue trauma, faster healing, and reduced post-operative crusting.

A Mega Session is a high-volume FUE procedure performed over two consecutive days to transplant 5,000 to 6,000 grafts. This is designed for patients with advanced hair loss (Norwood 5-6) who need maximum coverage in a single treatment cycle.

Day 1: Extraction of all grafts + implantation of approximately half (typically the frontal zone and mid-scalp).

Day 2: Implantation of remaining grafts into the crown and any areas requiring additional density.

Splitting the procedure over two days reduces fatigue for both the surgical team and the patient, maintains graft viability (grafts are extracted and implanted on the same day they are harvested), and allows the surgeon to assess Day 1 results before finalising Day 2 placement.

The FUE Procedure: Step by Step

Step 1 — Hairline Design. Your surgeon draws the proposed new hairline while you sit upright, using landmarks (forehead creases, facial proportions, age-appropriate recession) to create a natural, balanced result. You approve the design before proceeding.

Step 2 — Donor Area Preparation. The donor area (back and sides of the head) is trimmed to 1-2mm to allow precise punch placement. For no-shave FUE (available with DHI), only the donor area is shaved.

Step 3 — Local Anaesthesia. Anaesthetic is administered to the donor and recipient areas.
