The placement is done under light sedation, so you will not feel it. During the first 2-3 days you may experience nausea, cramping, and discomfort as your stomach adjusts, which is managed with medication.
The balloon is deflated and removed endoscopically in about 15 minutes under light sedation. By that point, your stomach has adapted to smaller portions and the nutrition habits you have built help maintain your weight loss.
Modern balloons are designed with a methylene-blue dye inside. If a leak occurs, the dye turns your urine green, alerting you to seek medical attention promptly. Spontaneous deflation is rare.
