No visible external scar. The incision is placed on the inner (mucosal) surface of the lip, hidden from view. It heals very well due to the excellent blood supply of lip tissue.
Lip reduction is a permanent procedure. Removed tissue cannot be replaced, so your surgeon will take a conservative approach, erring on the side of less removal to ensure satisfaction.
Temporary numbness or altered sensation is possible in the first few weeks but typically resolves fully. Permanent sensory changes are very rare.
Yes. Both the upper and lower lips can be reduced in a single session. The surgeon adjusts the amount removed from each lip individually for the best proportional result.
In some cases, yes. However, if the issue is solely due to filler, dissolving the filler with hyaluronidase is usually tried first. Surgical reduction is appropriate when the lip tissue itself is excessive.
