Genital Aesthetics Surgery at MedProper Istanbul

Genital aesthetics is one of the fastest-growing areas of cosmetic surgery worldwide, yet it remains one of the least discussed. Many women experience physical discomfort, functional problems or self-consciousness related to their intimate areas — but feel unsure where to turn for help. At MedProper Istanbul, our entire programme is built around discretion, clinical excellence and your comfort.

Whether you are considering labiaplasty for functional relief, vaginoplasty after childbirth, or a combination procedure, our board-certified gynaecological and plastic surgeons perform these operations daily in our JCI-accredited hospital. Every patient is assigned a dedicated female patient coordinator who manages your journey from first enquiry to post-operative follow-up — so you never have to explain sensitive details to multiple people.

Our 2026 all-inclusive packages start from £2,158 for labiaplasty — savings of up to 50 per cent compared with equivalent UK procedures. Your package covers surgery, anaesthesia, hospital stay, private transfers, medications and follow-up care, with no hidden costs.

If you have been putting off a consultation because you feel embarrassed or uncertain, please know that our team handles these enquiries every single day. There is no judgement here — only professional, evidence-based care.

Procedures Available

MedProper offers a full range of female genital aesthetic procedures. Your surgeon will discuss which approach — or combination of approaches — is most appropriate during your private video consultation.

Labiaplasty (Labia Minora Reduction)

Labiaplasty is the most commonly requested genital aesthetic procedure. It involves reducing the size of the labia minora (the inner lips of the vulva) when they are elongated, asymmetrical or cause discomfort.

Why women choose labiaplasty:

Frequently Asked Questions (20)

Is genital aesthetic surgery purely cosmetic, or can it address functional problems?

Both. Many patients seek genital aesthetics for functional reasons — chronic discomfort during exercise, irritation from clothing, hygiene difficulties or pain during intimacy. Others are motivated by aesthetic concerns, self-confidence or a combination of factors. There is no "wrong" reason to consider surgery, provided you have realistic expectations and are making the decision for yourself.

Will anyone be able to tell that I have had surgery?

Genital aesthetic procedures are designed to produce natural-looking results. Scars are placed in natural folds and creases where they become virtually invisible as they mature. Partners, healthcare professionals and gynaecologists generally cannot detect that surgery has been performed once healing is complete.

How long do the results of labiaplasty last?

Ready to Start Your Journey?

Get a personalised treatment plan with transparent pricing. No hidden fees, no obligations.

  • Physical discomfort — chafing during exercise, cycling or walking; irritation in tight clothing
  • Hygiene difficulties — excess tissue can make personal hygiene more challenging
  • Discomfort during intimacy — tissue may tuck or pull, causing pain
  • Self-consciousness — feeling uncomfortable or anxious about the appearance of the genital area
  • Congenital variation — some women are born with naturally larger labia that have always caused problems
  • Labial hypertrophy is a normal anatomical variation. The decision to undergo labiaplasty is always personal, and our surgeons take time to understand your specific concerns before recommending a technique.

The procedure takes 60 to 90 minutes under local or general anaesthesia. Most patients return to desk-based work within 5 to 7 days and resume full activity after 4 to 6 weeks.

    Labia Majora Augmentation or Reduction

The labia majora (outer lips) can change in volume and appearance due to ageing, weight fluctuation, hormonal changes or genetics. Some women find that the outer lips have become deflated or wrinkled, while others experience excess fullness.

Labia majora augmentation uses fat transfer (micro-lipoinjection) to restore volume, creating a smoother contour. Fat is harvested from a donor site — usually the inner thigh or lower abdomen — purified and carefully injected.

Labia majora reduction removes excess skin and tissue through discreet incisions along the natural folds.

Both can be performed as standalone operations or combined with labiaplasty.

    Vaginoplasty (Vaginal Tightening)

Vaginoplasty addresses vaginal laxity — a loosening of the vaginal canal and surrounding muscles that commonly occurs after vaginal childbirth, with ageing, or due to connective tissue changes. Many women report reduced sensation during intimacy and a feeling of "openness" that affects their confidence and comfort.

The procedure tightens the vaginal canal by removing excess lining and reinforcing the underlying musculature (the levator ani muscles), resulting in improved tone and a narrower canal.

Key points about vaginoplasty at MedProper:

    • Performed under general anaesthesia, lasting 60 to 90 minutes
    • Dissolvable sutures — no removal needed
    • Perineoplasty (perineal repair) included when clinically indicated
    • Results are long-lasting, though future vaginal deliveries may affect the outcome

Our surgeons approach each case with clinical rigour, assessing whether surgery is the most appropriate option or whether pelvic floor physiotherapy should be tried first.

    Clitoral Hood Reduction (Hoodoplasty)

Clitoral hood reduction removes excess tissue (the prepuce) that covers the clitoris. When this tissue is excessive, it can create a bulging appearance, trap moisture leading to irritation, or reduce sensitivity during intimacy.

This procedure is often performed alongside labiaplasty, as the clitoral hood and labia minora are anatomically continuous. The surgery takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes and involves careful excision of redundant skin while preserving the underlying structures entirely.

Important: Clitoral hood reduction does not alter the clitoris itself. The goal is to reduce excess covering tissue, not to modify nerve-rich structures. Our surgeons use meticulous techniques to ensure the clitoral anatomy is fully preserved.

    Combination Procedures

Many patients benefit from addressing multiple concerns in a single operation. Combining procedures reduces total recovery time (compared with staging operations separately), requires only one period of anaesthesia and is more cost-effective.

    Common combinations at MedProper:

    • Labiaplasty + Clitoral Hood Reduction — the most frequently requested combination, from £2,020
    • Labiaplasty + Vaginoplasty — comprehensive internal and external rejuvenation, from £2,940
    • Labiaplasty + Labia Majora Fat Transfer — full external contouring
    • Vaginoplasty + Perineoplasty — complete internal tightening with perineal repair

Your surgeon will confirm which procedures can safely be combined based on your anatomy, medical history and goals.

    Turkey vs UK: Cost Comparison

One of the primary reasons UK patients choose Turkey for genital aesthetics is the significant cost difference — without any compromise in surgical standards or hospital accreditation.

    ProcedureUK Average (2026)MedProper IstanbulYou Save
    Labiaplasty£2,500 - £4,500From £2,158Up to £2,342
    Vaginoplasty£4,000 - £6,000From £2,739Up to £3,261
    Labiaplasty + Clitoral Hood Reduction£4,000 - £6,000From £2,900Up to £3,100
    Labiaplasty + Vaginoplasty£6,000 - £9,000From £3,800Up to £5,200

Why is it more affordable in Turkey?

The cost difference reflects lower operational overheads — hospital facility costs, staffing and equipment procurement are significantly less expensive than in the UK. MedProper operates within a JCI-accredited hospital (the gold standard of international healthcare accreditation), and our surgeons hold equivalent board certifications to their UK counterparts. Our all-inclusive packages also bundle costs that would be charged separately in the UK — consultations, anaesthesia fees, medications and follow-up care are included from the outset.

What Is Included in Our All-Inclusive Package?

When we quote a price, it covers everything. There are no surprise charges, add-ons or hidden fees.

    • Pre-operative video consultation with your surgeon
    • All surgical fees — surgeon, assistant surgeon and anaesthesiologist
    • Hospital facility fees — operating theatre, recovery room and overnight stay (if required)
    • Anaesthesia — general or local as determined by your surgeon
    • Pre-operative blood tests and screening on the day of surgery
    • Post-operative medications — antibiotics, painkillers, anti-inflammatory medication
    • Private VIP transfers — airport to hotel, hotel to hospital, hospital to hotel, hotel to airport
    • Follow-up appointments at the clinic before your departure
    • Dedicated female patient coordinator assigned to you throughout your stay
    • 24/7 WhatsApp support from your coordinator during your time in Istanbul and after you return home

Not included: flights, hotel accommodation and personal expenses. We can recommend partner hotels near the clinic at preferential rates, and our team is happy to assist with travel planning.

    Your Privacy Is Guaranteed

We understand that genital aesthetics is an intensely private matter. Many patients tell us that their biggest concern — even more than the surgery itself — is confidentiality. At MedProper, your privacy is protected at every level.

Female patient coordinator throughout: From your very first enquiry, you are assigned a dedicated female coordinator. She is your single point of contact for all communication — you never have to repeat sensitive information to different staff members.

Confidential medical records: Your medical file is accessible only to the surgical team directly involved in your care. It is stored in compliance with Turkish medical data protection law and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

No data sharing — ever: We will never share your name, photographs, medical details or any identifying information with third parties without your explicit written consent. This includes marketing materials, social media, case studies and partner organisations.

Discreet billing and correspondence: All invoices, medical reports and correspondence from MedProper are issued under the general clinic name. There is no reference to specific procedures on any document that might be seen by others.

Private consultation rooms: All consultations — including physical examinations — take place in private rooms. You will never be examined in a shared or open environment.

Secure digital communication: All communication via WhatsApp, email and our patient portal is handled through secure, encrypted channels.

Your comfort and dignity are as important to us as the surgical outcome. If there is anything we can do to make you feel more at ease at any stage, please let your coordinator know.

    Am I a Good Candidate?

Genital aesthetic surgery may be appropriate if you experience one or more of the following:

    • Physical discomfort from enlarged, asymmetrical or excess genital tissue during daily activities, exercise or intimacy
    • Chronic irritation or hygiene difficulties related to tissue anatomy
    • Vaginal laxity following childbirth or due to ageing, causing reduced sensation or discomfort
    • Psychological distress or self-consciousness that is affecting your quality of life, confidence or relationships
    • Functional concerns such as difficulty wearing certain clothing, discomfort when seated for long periods or pain during physical activity

    General health requirements:

    • You should be in good overall health with no uncontrolled medical conditions
    • Non-smoker, or willing to stop smoking at least 4 weeks before and after surgery
    • Not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
    • No active genital infections or untreated gynaecological conditions
    • Realistic expectations about what surgery can and cannot achieve

Age considerations: Most patients are between 25 and 55, though there is no strict upper or lower age limit for adults. Patients under 18 are not eligible.

Motivation: Our surgeons will always ensure you are seeking surgery for yourself — not because of pressure from a partner or external expectations. The consultation explores your motivations and goals to confirm surgery is right for you.

    How Is Labiaplasty Performed?

Labiaplasty is the most commonly requested genital aesthetic procedure at MedProper, and our surgeons are experienced in both major techniques. The choice of method depends on your anatomy, the degree of reduction required and your aesthetic goals.

    Trim Technique vs Wedge Technique

    Trim Technique

The trim technique involves removing excess tissue along the free edge of the labia minora, creating a neat, defined contour. It is the most straightforward method and allows precise control over the final shape and symmetry.

    • Best suited for patients with uniformly elongated labia
    • Allows removal of any darker or irregular tissue along the edge (if this is a concern for the patient)
    • Slightly simpler recovery with predictable results
    • Leaves a fine scar along the labial edge, which typically fades to become barely visible within 3 to 6 months

    Wedge Technique

The wedge technique removes a V-shaped section of tissue from the middle portion of each labium, then sutures the remaining upper and lower edges together. This preserves the natural border and colour of the labial edge.

    • Preserves the natural edge anatomy and pigmentation pattern
    • Often preferred for patients who wish to maintain the existing contour of the labial margin
    • Slightly more technically demanding, requiring an experienced surgeon
    • Scar is located centrally and is usually concealed within the natural folds

    Which technique is better?

Neither is universally superior — each has distinct advantages, and the right choice depends on your anatomy. Your surgeon will explain which approach they recommend during your video consultation.

    Anaesthesia options:

    • Local anaesthesia with sedation — you remain awake but relaxed and pain-free; suitable for standalone labiaplasty
    • General anaesthesia — recommended for combination procedures or patients who prefer to be fully asleep

    Your Journey at MedProper Istanbul

We have designed a structured pathway that minimises stress and ensures you always know what to expect.

    Before you travel:

    1. Online enquiry — submit your details via our confidential contact form or WhatsApp
    2. Video consultation — a private video call with your surgeon to discuss your concerns, examine relevant photographs (sent securely) and agree on a treatment plan
    3. Personalised quote — a detailed breakdown of costs, procedure details and travel timeline
    4. Booking confirmation — once you confirm, your coordinator assists with travel planning and pre-operative instructions

    In Istanbul (typical 4-day itinerary):

    • Day 1 — Arrival: Private VIP transfer from Istanbul Airport to your hotel. Settle in and rest.
    • Day 2 — Consultation and surgery: Morning transfer to the clinic. Pre-operative blood tests and final consultation with your surgeon. Procedure performed the same day. Depending on the operation, you may be discharged the same evening or stay one night in the hospital.
    • Day 3 — Recovery and follow-up: Post-operative check at the clinic. Your surgeon examines the surgical site, changes dressings and confirms everything is healing well. Return to your hotel for rest.
    • Day 4 — Departure: Final check (if needed), then private transfer to the airport for your flight home.

    After you return home:

    • Your coordinator remains available via WhatsApp for any questions or concerns
    • Scheduled video follow-ups at 1 week, 2 weeks and 6 weeks post-surgery
    • If you experience any issues, our team can liaise with your GP or local healthcare provider
    • In the unlikely event of a complication requiring in-person review, MedProper covers the cost of return travel and corrective treatment

    Recovery Timeline

Recovery is generally well-tolerated, though it requires patience and adherence to your post-operative instructions.

    Time After SurgeryWhat to Expect
Days 1-3Swelling and mild to moderate discomfort. Pain is managed with prescribed medication. Cold compresses can help reduce swelling. Rest as much as possible.
Days 4-7Swelling begins to subside. Most patients can return to desk-based work. Gentle walking is encouraged. Avoid tight clothing.
Weeks 2-3Significant improvement in swelling. Dissolvable sutures begin to absorb. Discomfort is minimal for most patients. Light daily activities resume.
Weeks 4-6Most swelling has resolved. You may gradually resume exercise (avoiding cycling and horseback riding until cleared).
Week 6+Full healing for most patients. Intimacy can typically be resumed at 6 to 8 weeks, as advised by your surgeon. Final results visible at 3 to 6 months.

    Recovery tips:

    • Wear loose cotton underwear and avoid thongs for the first 4 to 6 weeks
    • Keep the area clean and dry — gently pat dry after washing rather than rubbing
    • Avoid baths, swimming pools, hot tubs and saunas for at least 4 weeks
    • Do not use tampons for 4 to 6 weeks; use sanitary pads instead
    • Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, cycling and horseback riding for 6 weeks
    • Sleep on your back with a pillow between your knees for the first week if comfortable
    • Attend all follow-up appointments, whether in person or via video call

    When Can I Fly Home?

Most patients can fly home 2 to 3 days after standalone labiaplasty or clitoral hood reduction. For vaginoplasty or combination procedures, we recommend staying 3 to 4 days after surgery before flying.

Istanbul to London is approximately 4 hours. We recommend wearing loose clothing, taking pain medication before boarding, walking gently every hour, using a soft cushion for comfort and staying well hydrated. Your surgeon will confirm you are safe to fly at your final in-person check before departure.

Is Genital Aesthetics Surgery Safe in Turkey?

Turkey is the fourth most popular destination in the world for medical tourism, with over 1.2 million international patients travelling for treatment annually. Istanbul in particular has a concentration of world-class hospital facilities.

Why MedProper is a safe choice:

    • JCI accreditation — our hospital meets or exceeds the standards of leading NHS and private hospitals in the UK
    • Board-certified surgeons — Turkish Board certifications equivalent to UK Royal College membership, with specific genital aesthetics training
    • Modern operating theatres — fully equipped with the latest surgical technology, monitoring and sterilisation protocols
    • Dedicated anaesthesiology team — consultant anaesthesiologists monitor your vital signs throughout
    • Turkish Ministry of Health regulated — all procedures, facilities and practitioners are licensed and inspected

A note on choosing carefully: Not all clinics maintain the same standards. We advise patients to verify JCI accreditation, confirm surgeon credentials, and read verified patient reviews before making a decision.

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong?

MedProper takes full responsibility for your surgical outcome. In the unlikely event of a complication:

    • Immediate support: Your coordinator is available 24/7 via WhatsApp for any concerning symptoms — unusual pain, bleeding or signs of infection
    • Remote assessment: Minor concerns can often be assessed via video consultation. We respond to urgent queries within hours.
    • Return travel covered: If in-person assessment is needed, MedProper covers return flights and accommodation in Istanbul
    • Revision surgery at no cost: Corrective surgery for a documented surgical issue is performed free of charge, as documented in your treatment agreement
    • UK-based liaison: Our team can liaise directly with your GP or local hospital if you need urgent local attention

Complications following genital aesthetic surgery are uncommon, but we believe you deserve complete peace of mind.

    Risks and Complications

All surgical procedures carry some degree of risk, and it is important to understand these before making your decision. Genital aesthetic surgery is generally considered low-risk when performed by an experienced surgeon in an accredited facility, but potential complications include:

Common (expected as part of normal healing):

    • Swelling and bruising — resolves within 2 to 4 weeks
    • Mild discomfort or tenderness — managed with prescribed pain relief
    • Temporary numbness or altered sensation — usually resolves within weeks to months
    • Minor asymmetry — small variations are normal and often improve as swelling settles

Uncommon (occurring in a small percentage of patients):

    • Infection — minimised with antibiotics and proper wound care
    • Wound separation (dehiscence) — small areas may open, usually healing on their own with appropriate care
    • Haematoma (collection of blood under the skin) — may require drainage
    • Prolonged swelling or discomfort lasting beyond the expected timeline

    Rare:

    • Permanent changes in sensation (increased or decreased) — very uncommon with experienced surgeons
    • Scarring that is more visible than expected — scar revision is possible if needed
    • Need for revision surgery — required in approximately 2 to 5 per cent of cases
    • Anaesthesia-related complications — discussed in detail with your anaesthesiologist pre-operatively

    How we minimise risk:

    • Thorough pre-operative assessment to identify and manage any risk factors
    • Experienced surgeons who perform these procedures regularly
    • JCI-accredited hospital facilities with full emergency capability
    • Comprehensive post-operative monitoring, including follow-up calls and video consultations
    • Clear written post-operative instructions provided in English

Your surgeon will discuss all relevant risks during your consultation. Informed consent is a cornerstone of our practice — we want you to feel fully prepared before proceeding.

Labiaplasty results are considered permanent. The tissue that is removed does not grow back. However, natural ageing, significant weight changes and hormonal fluctuations (such as those during pregnancy or menopause) can cause gradual changes to the remaining tissue over many years.

How long do vaginoplasty results last?

Vaginoplasty results are long-lasting, particularly if you maintain pelvic floor strength through regular exercises. However, future vaginal deliveries can stretch the repaired tissues. If you are planning to have children, your surgeon may recommend postponing vaginoplasty until after you have completed your family.

Will I lose sensation after labiaplasty?

Temporary changes in sensation — including numbness, tingling or heightened sensitivity — are common in the weeks following surgery and typically resolve within 2 to 3 months. Permanent loss of sensation is very rare when the procedure is performed by an experienced surgeon using appropriate techniques. Many patients report improved sensation once discomfort from excess tissue is eliminated.

    Is the procedure painful?

During surgery, you will feel no pain — either local anaesthesia (with sedation) or general anaesthesia ensures complete comfort. Post-operatively, most patients describe discomfort as mild to moderate, similar to a dull ache. Prescribed pain medication keeps this well controlled. By the end of the first week, most patients require only over-the-counter painkillers.

Can I have labiaplasty under local anaesthesia?

Yes. Standalone labiaplasty and clitoral hood reduction can be performed under local anaesthesia with light sedation. You remain awake but feel no pain, and recovery on the day is faster. General anaesthesia is recommended for vaginoplasty and combination procedures.

What if I am menstruating on the day of surgery?

Menstruation does not prevent surgery from going ahead, though many patients prefer to schedule their procedure for a time when they are not on their period for comfort reasons. If your period arrives unexpectedly, please inform your coordinator — we can usually adjust the schedule or proceed as planned.

How soon after childbirth can I have genital aesthetic surgery?

We recommend waiting at least 6 months after vaginal delivery and at least 6 months after you have finished breastfeeding. This allows your hormones to stabilise and your tissues to recover fully, which leads to better surgical outcomes and more accurate assessment of your anatomy.

Can I combine genital aesthetics with other cosmetic procedures?

Yes. Some patients combine genital aesthetic surgery with a tummy tuck, liposuction or breast surgery during their Istanbul trip. Your surgeon will advise on which combinations are safe based on total operating time and recovery requirements.

What photographs will I need to send for my consultation?

Your surgeon may request clinical photographs to assess your anatomy before the video consultation. These are sent via a secure, encrypted channel and treated with the same confidentiality as your medical records. Photographs are used solely for surgical planning and are never shared or published without your explicit written consent. If you prefer not to send photographs in advance, the examination can be completed in person on arrival.

How do I explain my trip to Istanbul to family or friends?

That is entirely your decision. Our team supports patients who wish to maintain complete discretion. All documentation uses the general clinic name without reference to specific procedures. If you need a medical letter for your employer, we can provide one that does not disclose the nature of your treatment.

Will my GP know about the surgery?

Only if you choose to tell them. We do not share medical information with your GP or any third party without your explicit consent. We do recommend informing your GP so they can support your recovery, and we can provide a surgical summary for you to share at your discretion.

Are your surgeons male or female?

Our genital aesthetics team includes both male and female surgeons. If you have a strong preference for a female surgeon, please let your coordinator know at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate your request. All of our surgeons — regardless of gender — maintain the highest standards of professionalism, sensitivity and clinical care.

What type of sutures are used?

Dissolvable sutures are used for all genital aesthetic procedures. They absorb naturally over 2 to 4 weeks and do not require removal. This means you do not need to visit a clinic or GP to have stitches taken out after you return home.

How do I know if I need labiaplasty or if my anatomy is normal?

There is enormous natural variation in genital anatomy. There is no single "normal" appearance. Labiaplasty is about addressing discomfort, functional problems or distress — not achieving a particular look. If you are experiencing physical symptoms or significant distress, a consultation can help determine whether surgery would benefit you.

    Can labiaplasty be reversed?

No. Labiaplasty permanently removes tissue. This is why our surgeons take a conservative approach — removing only what is necessary while preserving natural anatomy. Your surgeon will discuss the planned extent of tissue removal during your consultation.

What if I am not happy with the results?

Published medical literature consistently reports satisfaction rates above 90 per cent for genital aesthetic surgery. If you are not satisfied, your surgeon is available for follow-up assessment and will discuss options including revision surgery if clinically appropriate. Revision surgery for a documented surgical concern is covered at no additional cost under our guarantee.

Is it safe to fly economy class after surgery?

Yes. Economy class is perfectly acceptable for the 4-hour Istanbul-to-London flight. Wear loose clothing, take pain medication before boarding, use a soft cushion, and stand to walk briefly every hour.

Do I need to shave or wax before surgery?

No. Your surgical team will prepare the area on the day of surgery under sterile conditions. We advise against shaving at home in the days before surgery, as micro-abrasions can increase infection risk.
