Ear Surgery
Ear pinning surgery under general anaesthesia
Is it safe?
Your hospital holds the same JCI accreditation as Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins. Verified by TEMOS for international patient safety.
Will the price change?
Your price is locked before you book. Surgery, hospital, hotel, transfers, aftercare — one number, no extras.
What if something goes wrong?
Mandatory insurance required by Turkish law. If a revision is needed — flights, hospital, surgeon — covered. You never pay twice.
Who's my surgeon?
Confirmed before you pay. Full credentials, specialisation, and patient results shared upfront. No last-minute switch.
What happens after I fly home?
24/7 WhatsApp with your coordinator. Scheduled video check-ups with your surgeon. 12 months, not 12 days.
Otoplasty under general anaesthesia is ear reshaping surgery that corrects prominent, protruding, or asymmetrical ears. Performed while the patient is fully asleep, this option is preferred for patients who want complete comfort during the procedure or when more extensive reshaping is needed. MedProper performs otoplasty in a JCI and TEMOS-accredited Istanbul hospital with plastic surgeons experienced in ear aesthetics.
General anaesthesia ensures you feel absolutely nothing during the procedure and have no awareness of the surgical process.
When significant cartilage reshaping or bilateral correction is needed, general anaesthesia allows the surgeon to work without time pressure.
The cartilage is permanently restructured, so the improved ear position is maintained for life.
The incision is placed in the crease behind the ear and is virtually invisible once healed.
Days 1-3
Bandage Period
A protective head bandage is worn continuously to support the ears. Mild discomfort and swelling. Avoid sleeping on the side.
Days 4-7
Bandage Removal
The bandage is removed at your follow-up appointment. Ears appear improved but still swollen. A headband is provided for nighttime use.
Weeks 2-3
Return to Activities
Most patients return to work or school within 7-10 days. Avoid contact sports and pulling clothing over the ears.
Weeks 4-6
Normalising
Swelling largely resolves. The ears settle into their final position. Nighttime headband continues for 4-6 weeks.
Months 2-3
Final Result
All swelling has resolved. The ears sit naturally against the head with a balanced, symmetrical appearance.

The surgical technique is the same. GA (general anaesthesia) means you are fully asleep, which provides complete comfort and is preferred for longer or bilateral procedures. LA (local anaesthesia) numbs only the ears while you remain awake.
Ear cartilage is typically mature enough for reshaping by age 5-6. For children, general anaesthesia is standard. Adults can choose between GA and LA.
Yes. The goal is to position the ears closer to the head while maintaining a natural shape and slight asymmetry that all normal ears have. The result should look like you were simply born with well-positioned ears.
Yes. Bilateral otoplasty is standard and both ears are corrected in the same session to ensure symmetry.
Recurrence is uncommon (under 5%) when permanent sutures are used. If minor asymmetry develops during healing, a simple revision can correct it.
