Dimple creation surgery (dimpleplasty) is a minimally invasive procedure that creates natural-looking dimples on the cheeks. The surgeon forms a small connection between the skin and the underlying buccinator muscle, so that a dimple appears when you smile. MedProper performs this popular facial enhancement in a JCI and TEMOS-accredited Istanbul hospital under local anaesthesia for a comfortable, quick experience.
The entire procedure is performed through the inside of the cheek with no external incisions, cuts, or visible scarring.
Dimpleplasty takes approximately 30 minutes and is performed under local anaesthesia with minimal discomfort.
Once healed, the dimple appears only when smiling, mimicking the natural dimple mechanism found in people born with them.
The dimple is visible immediately after the procedure, though it will evolve over weeks to become more natural-looking.
Days 1-3
Mild Swelling
Slight swelling inside the cheek. The dimple is visible even at rest during this phase, which is normal and expected.
Days 4-7
Quick Healing
Swelling subsides rapidly. Normal eating and speaking resume. Oral hygiene with a gentle mouthwash recommended.
Weeks 2-4
Dimple Settling
The internal suture gradually dissolves. The dimple begins transitioning from being constantly visible to appearing mainly when smiling.
Months 1-3
Final Result
The scar tissue matures and the dimple appears naturally only during smiling, closely mimicking a natural dimple.

Immediate (natural settling in 1-3 months)
Yes. After the initial settling period (1-3 months), the dimple appears naturally when you smile and is not visible at rest, just like a genetic dimple.
Absolutely. You and your surgeon select the exact position during consultation by marking your cheeks while you smile. Placement is fully customisable.
Yes. The scar tissue that forms between the skin and muscle creates a permanent dimple mechanism. In rare cases, the dimple may soften slightly over many years.
No. The procedure is performed entirely from inside the mouth. There are no external incisions or scars.
Soft foods are recommended for the first day or two. Normal eating can resume quickly, though very hot or spicy foods should be avoided for a few days to allow the internal incision to heal.
