Root canal treatment (endodontic therapy) saves a severely infected or damaged tooth by removing the inflamed or dead nerve tissue (pulp) from inside the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting the root canals, and sealing them to prevent reinfection. Without treatment, the infection can spread to surrounding bone and tissue, leading to abscess and tooth loss. At MedProper Istanbul, root canals are performed with rotary instruments and electronic apex locators for precision and efficiency.
Root canal treatment eliminates infection while preserving the tooth, avoiding the cost and complexity of implants or bridges.
The procedure removes the source of infection and pain. Most patients experience immediate relief after treatment.
Rotary instruments and electronic apex locators make the procedure faster, more precise, and more comfortable than traditional methods.
At EUR 100 per tooth at MedProper, root canal treatment costs a fraction of extraction-plus-implant replacement.
Days 1-2
Post-Treatment Sensitivity
Mild tenderness around the tooth is normal as the surrounding tissue heals. Over-the-counter pain relief is usually sufficient.
Days 3-7
Symptom Resolution
Pain and sensitivity diminish rapidly. Avoid chewing hard foods on the treated tooth until the permanent crown is placed.
Weeks 2-4
Crown Placement
A root-canal-treated tooth becomes brittle over time and should be protected with a crown for long-term survival.

Immediate pain relief
No. The tooth is thoroughly numbed with local anaesthesia before treatment begins. Most patients report less discomfort than a standard filling. The real pain comes from the infection itself, which the treatment resolves.
In most cases, yes. A root-canal-treated tooth loses moisture over time and becomes more prone to fracture. A crown protects the tooth and extends its life by many years.
With a well-fitting crown and good oral hygiene, a root-canal-treated tooth can last a lifetime. Success rates exceed 95% for properly performed treatments.
Mild sensitivity for a few days is caused by inflammation in the tissues surrounding the root tip, not by the tooth itself (the nerve has been removed). This resolves as healing progresses.
