Dental Surgery
Surgical excision of a dental cyst from the jawbone or soft tissue
Is it safe?
Your hospital holds the same JCI accreditation as Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins. Verified by TEMOS for international patient safety.
Will the price change?
Your price is locked before you book. Surgery, hospital, hotel, transfers, aftercare — one number, no extras.
What if something goes wrong?
Mandatory insurance required by Turkish law. If a revision is needed — flights, hospital, surgeon — covered. You never pay twice.
Who's my surgeon?
Confirmed before you pay. Full credentials, specialisation, and patient results shared upfront. No last-minute switch.
What happens after I fly home?
24/7 WhatsApp with your coordinator. Scheduled video check-ups with your surgeon. 12 months, not 12 days.
Dental cyst removal (cystectomy) is a surgical procedure to excise a fluid-filled sac that has developed around the root of a tooth or within the jawbone. Dental cysts, if left untreated, can grow progressively, destroying bone and endangering adjacent teeth and nerves. At MedProper Istanbul, cyst removal is performed by experienced oral surgeons with histological examination of the excised tissue to confirm the diagnosis.
Enucleation removes the cyst in its entirety, including the lining, to minimise the risk of recurrence.
Early removal prevents further bone destruction. Bone grafting, if needed, promotes regeneration of the defect.
Laboratory analysis of the removed tissue provides a definitive diagnosis, ruling out more serious pathology.
MedProper's oral surgeons routinely manage cysts of all sizes, including those adjacent to critical anatomical structures.
Days 1-3
Post-Surgical Swelling
Moderate swelling and discomfort are expected. Ice packs, elevation, and prescribed pain medication manage symptoms. Soft diet recommended.
Days 4-10
Healing Progresses
Swelling decreases. Stitches dissolve or are removed. Continue gentle oral hygiene and saltwater rinses around the site.
Weeks 4-12
Bone Regeneration
If bone graft material was placed, regeneration progresses over several weeks. A follow-up X-ray confirms healing.

Immediate (swelling reduction at 1-2 weeks)
Most dental cysts are benign, but they can cause significant bone destruction, tooth loss, and nerve damage if left untreated. Very rarely, some jaw cysts can harbour more serious pathology, which is why histological examination is important.
In many cases, yes. If the tooth is viable, an apicoectomy (root tip removal) is performed alongside cyst enucleation. If the tooth is too damaged, extraction is combined with the cystectomy.
Complete enucleation has a low recurrence rate. Certain cyst types (e.g. odontogenic keratocysts) have a higher recurrence tendency and require closer follow-up.
Soft tissue heals within 2-3 weeks. Bone regeneration in the cavity takes 3-6 months, depending on the defect size and whether bone graft was placed.
