What is Surgical Extraction?
Surgical tooth extraction is a procedure used to remove teeth that cannot be taken out with standard forceps alone, typically because the tooth is broken at the gum line, has curved or fused roots, or is partially embedded in bone. The dentist makes a small incision in the gum and may remove a small amount of bone to access the tooth safely. How Does Surgical Extraction Work?

If the tooth cannot be grasped directly with forceps because it is broken, impacted, or root-complex, a gum incision and sometimes bone removal are needed. This makes it a surgical extraction.
