Dental Surgery
Barrier membrane placed over bone graft to guide tissue regeneration
Is it safe?
Your hospital holds the same JCI accreditation as Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins. Verified by TEMOS for international patient safety.
Will the price change?
Your price is locked before you book. Surgery, hospital, hotel, transfers, aftercare — one number, no extras.
What if something goes wrong?
Mandatory insurance required by Turkish law. If a revision is needed — flights, hospital, surgeon — covered. You never pay twice.
Who's my surgeon?
Confirmed before you pay. Full credentials, specialisation, and patient results shared upfront. No last-minute switch.
What happens after I fly home?
24/7 WhatsApp with your coordinator. Scheduled video check-ups with your surgeon. 12 months, not 12 days.
A barrier membrane is a biocompatible, resorbable sheet placed over a bone graft site to protect the graft material and guide bone regeneration (guided bone regeneration, or GBR). The membrane prevents fast-growing soft tissue from invading the graft site, giving slower-growing bone cells time to regenerate the defect. At MedProper Istanbul, collagen membranes are used for predictable, safe healing.
The membrane creates a protected space for bone cells to regenerate, significantly improving graft success rates.
Collagen membranes dissolve naturally over months, eliminating the need for a second surgery to remove them.
Guided bone regeneration with membrane barriers is one of the most well-documented techniques in implant dentistry.
At EUR 370 per membrane, this critical adjunct is clearly itemised so you understand exactly what you are receiving.
Days 1-3
Part of Graft Recovery
The membrane is placed during bone graft surgery, so recovery follows the same timeline. Swelling and mild discomfort are managed with medication.
Weeks 1-2
Gum Healing
Stitches dissolve. The membrane remains in place under the gum, protecting the graft. Avoid pressure on the site.
Months 4-6
Resorption and Regeneration
The membrane gradually resorbs as new bone fills the defect. A follow-up CBCT confirms bone regeneration before implant placement.

Additional 10-15 minutes (during graft surgery)

Recovery
Same as bone graft
Permanence
Membrane resorbs; bone is permanent
Anaesthesia
Local (part of graft procedure)

Not always, but in most cases a membrane significantly improves graft predictability by preventing soft tissue from invading the graft site. Your surgeon will advise based on the defect type and size.
No. MedProper uses resorbable collagen membranes that dissolve naturally over 4-6 months, eliminating the need for a second surgical procedure.
Early membrane exposure can occur if the gum flap recedes. Minor exposure may heal on its own. If significant, the surgeon may trim the exposed portion. Avoiding smoking and following post-operative instructions minimises this risk.
Yes. The membrane and bone graft are separate items. Your MedProper treatment plan will itemise each component clearly so you know the total cost before committing.
